What is Christmas without Music

What is Christmas without Christmas music? Well, in my world, it just isn't Christmas without the backdrop of some lovely holiday tunes playing! For me, Christmas without music is like a movie without a soundtrack!

As a child, I fondly remember Bing Crosby crooning us into Christmas oblivion with his version of, I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas as we were unwrapping our gifts from Santa. I also remember that my mom and dad would play Tchaikovsky's music over the holidays from the fairy tale ballet, The Nutcracker. Such brilliant music and still one of my favorites to listen to at Christmas time. These albums are woven into the very threads of me. I think of Christmas and these songs begin to stream through my awareness more clearly than Spotify.

I began singing on family Christmas albums when I was quite young. Each Christmas holiday, much of our time was spent performing at various churches, and in specific stores that were selling our albums. My Gibbons family, being such a musical bunch, we were always creating new inspirational albums, several of them shining the spotlight on Christmas.

As my vocal work started budding into something I could actually call a career, the Christmas theme continued to follow me. I haven't kept count but I have worked on a lot of Christmas music over the years. Most notably, the original version of The Forgotten Carols by Michael McLean, Christmas Medley by Thomas Bergersen/Two Steps From Hell, Jennifer Thomas' Alleluia from her album, Winter Symphony, Season of Love - Jaci Velásquez, background vocals to enhance Usher's live Christmas performance at the Macy's Tree Lighting in Atlanta, and live background vocals in connection with Alan Jackson for his Let it be Christmas CMT, Christmas special, filmed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN.

Recording my own Christmas album, A Breath of Peace : Christmas, and the winter-themed album, Winter's Dream in collaboration with my partner and husband, Phil Rey Gibbons, is something I had wanted to do for a long time. I'm honored that our music and my voice have become a holiday and Christmas tradition for people.

In keeping with Gibbons family tradition, last year I offered two Christmas concerts here in our region of France. The turn out was great and the meet and greet party after the first concert was especially warm and memorable. I know I am not alone in saying that I can't wait to be able to do some live performances again! We recorded the first concert and posted it on social media for all to enjoy! You can watch a shortened version of the concert on IGTV, or the full-length version on YouTube or my Facebook page. The link below will get you over to my Winter's Dream : Concert de Noël wherever you prefer to watch it.

Before I sign off, I want to let you know about a specific Christmas discount that I am offering on my A Breath of Peace : Christmas album. It is available at a 20% discount (I have marked it down from €9.99 to €7.99) from now until the new year! The 20% discount is already in place and the album is ready for purchase on the music page of my website!

If you are a streamer, you can listen to my Christmas album or any of my music on your favorite music platform. Here is a link with some streaming options:

I hope that your holidays are “merry and bright,” and made all the sweeter with a bit of music playing in the background. After all, what is Christmas without music?
